Here is last month’s top pick by Team MuSophia. These songs have selected among the releases in May. Have you listened to all these songs? If you haven’t, you should definitely check these out.

10Meghdol – Tobu Mon

You have to give it multiple listens and a couple more rewinds in your mobile phone’s music player when it comes to listening to Meghdol. They have set themselves apart from what we know as ‘Mainstream’ through their sounds, tunes, and lyrics. After releasing, Esho Amar Shohore and Maya Cycle this is the 3rd single they’ve released.

9Arnab – Chora Kata

Arnab’s latest single Chora Kata is produced by Gaanchill Music. This has been nothing less of the expectation from an artist like Arnob, whose name needs no acquaintance. Filled with melancholic ambiance, this song is vibrant with bluesy tunes and grooves. Don’t forget to check the jazzy licks at the end of this song played by Imran Ahmed.

8Oni Hasan – Shrine – Revisited

Oni Hasan has never failed to create new pieces that were different from the previous ones. This instrumental piece is brimmed with guitar melodies and shredding, much like the previous one Shrine with slight modifications.

7Brothers in Madness – Pathorgulo

This band called Brothers in Madness is lesser-known to us probably because of their number of covers but now comes their original number. Beautiful wordplay throughout the song, intermingling with vocal melody, this track is must listen in this quarantine. You sure are going to say, this is one of the types you haven’t heard before.

6Mizan & Setu – Ondho Kritodash

This is a new single out composed by Mizan and Setu Chowdhury. Mizan has always been one of the excellent vocals of this country’s band scenario and once again his proficiency and skills have been echoed throughout the song.

5Bakhtiar Hossain – Oi Ekta Manush

Bakhtiar Hossain has published a poetry book in the Ekushe Boi Mela this year and he’s popular for his recitation of various pieces of poetry. ‘Oi Ekta Manush’ is a recitation from this man, words penned by himself on special Mother’s Day. The words and the piano works mingled in such a beautiful way that will make you fall in love with poetry.

4Unmaad – Toothpick

This underground band Unmaad is gradually making its way to the larger audience. This band is reviving the Hard Rock music in our music scenario. This song is from their debut album Run to Bahaddarhat that came up with a music video this time. This band is one of the few bands who are composing English songs to get international audiences. Very few people will believe that this band is from Bangladesh, as they have been so perfect with the pronunciation and compositions. If you haven’t listened to them yet, you should probably listen to this song. Classic hard rock back again! Hell Yeah . . .

3Ionic Bond – Sword of the Alchemist

Ionic Bond needs no introduction to the band music scenario of Bangladesh. They’ve been making epic melodic death metal songs throughout their career. Their first album Amavashya Lore was released in 2015, now they’ve released the single for their 2nd album Good Dying Light. Brimmed with lyrics from Epic, and full of powerful double bass and blast beats, they’re probably the best in the business (genre) right now in the Bangladesh music industry.

2Leemonade – Bristir Jonno Gaan

The month ended with this soothing song from Leemonade. The lyrics, penned by Leemon, who also happens to be the vocalist and guitarist of the band, made his musical debut in 2003. Mostly famous for his jingles, background scores, and the cover of the song “Abar Elo Je Sondha” by Lucky Akhand, he released his first album Hoyto in 2011.

1Sharpnel Method – Surjodoy

Sharpnel Method has been doing music for long, “they should’ve been awarded Grammy for the procrastination” a quote from Raef Al Hasan Rafa seems true. But after years of procrastination, they’ve finally released their single “Surjodoy” which seems really good that they’re back again and the SharpMeth fans got something to cheer about. Full of powerful drumming and riffs, this song is a must-listen.
