MuSophia Top Pick is the Monthly Top Chart of Bangladeshi music. Here is last month’s top pick by Team MuSophia. This top chart is made among the Bangladeshi songs released in May.
6Tomra Jedin Shohore Ashbe – Metrolife

This track is the second single from their upcoming album Diprohor. With poetic lyrics fitting perfectly with the metre of the song. This soothing song depicts the story of human friendship and its evanescent nature. The lyrics, the tune, composition- the representation of the whole song have been fabulous.
5See Me Never – JOGOT

The latest track from JOGOT has been a wonderful piece. This number is somewhat different in tone as it swayed away from the neo metal sound it once leaned toward. This shifting to an indie rock tone has been a big leap. Nevertheless, they have managed to produce an excellent sound and composition, with Olindo nailing it with the unique vocal tune and pronunciation of the words.

4Barzakh – Messianic Era

This track is from the bands’ self-titled debut album Messianic Era, released in May as a single. In June when released, the album proved to be a blast. The album is a whole new addition to our music scene and a tone of revival for a dying metal scene. This English track, written by Samin Yasar, is a dynamite power house. The riffs, the drum lines and the vocals, both the clean and distorted growling have been top notch.

3Remembrance – Dads in the Park

Dads in the Park needs no introduction to the current urban music listeners, as all of their releases have been major hits in the scene. This latest release is a compact alternative track that the duo nailed with the sound and perfection. The duo released a music video for the track in June. One thing to notice is that the music video has some sort of resemblance to the one of the greatest music videos in the music history, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana. Now are The Dads trying to say, “We are here to stay?” Are their sounds and words reflecting the emotions and vibrancy of this generation just like Nirvana in the 90s? Well, time will speak, but till then check them out!
2Kashfuler Shohor Dekha – Shironamhin

This track is a special number in the entire discography of this prolific band, I must say, as this is the only track that has been composed on a weird time signature, 7.5 over 8. Now this is first time probably, a popular Bengali band uses such weird time signature throughout the entire song, and this weirdness has not exaggerated the song at all. Shafin nailing it with his drumming, complex drum lines and his mesmerizing sarod solo. Ziaur Rahman Zia added a whole new dimension with his cello intro. This song is a poetic representation of the dreams we forsake just to fit in with the structure we live in.

1Ora – Tuhin and Shoaib

A musical rendition of the poem under the same title from the Hungryalist poet Shakti Chattopadhyay. This is the first time Shoaib, former guitarist of the band Meghdol and Tuhin, former vocalist of Shironamhin collaborated in a single act. The composition and arrangement were done by Shoaib himself. It’s needless to say his instrumental representation has been wonderful and perfectly fits the words. Tuhin was just as brilliant with the vocal. The one-take video production has been excellent. It commensurate with the surreal and postmodern language of Shakti Chatterjee representing an in-depth meaning in a simplistic manner.
